In the beautiful city of Huancayo, located in the central Andes of Peru, thousands of elderly people live in conditions of vulnerability and abandonment. Often forgotten by their own families, many have been victims of violence and neglect. This heartbreaking reality is even more striking in rural areas, such as the village of Quilcas, where assistance is hard to come by.

Our project has a clear purpose: to restore dignity, care, and affection to those elderly individuals who have been forgotten by society. As an international volunteer, you will have the opportunity to be part of this transformative initiative, working directly with the beneficiaries to improve their living conditions and emotional well-being.

What does the project involve?

This project aims to provide comprehensive care for the elderly in Quilcas, a rural village near Huancayo, who are living in conditions of abandonment. Here, you will have the opportunity to improve the quality of life for many seniors by offering them affection, support, and resources to help them live with dignity.

Main Activities:

Recreation and Cognitive Stimulation: We will keep our elders’ minds active and their hearts full of joy through games, painting, reading, and many other activities.

Home Visits: You will visit the elders’ homes to ensure they live in a clean, safe, and comfortable environment. You will help improve their living conditions and ensure their well-being.

Emotional Support: You will provide psychological support, helping the elderly strengthen their self-esteem, overcome traumas, and improve their quality of life.

Access to Medical Services: You will accompany the elderly to their medical appointments, ensuring they receive the proper treatment and have access to the healthcare they desperately need.

Duration and Costs

Accommodation: Volunteer House

Shared rooms with other volunteers (sheets, pillows). Comfortable common areas for socializing and resting. Access to basic services: electricity, potable water, and internet connection. Bathroom with hot water. Wi-Fi connection. Everything needed for the volunteer to prepare their meals.

What does the volunteer program include?

Accommodation and Meals

Volunteers will stay at the Volunteer House, located in Huancayo, close to the work area. The accommodation will be shared, which will also allow you to meet other international volunteers and share experiences.

Training and Support

Before starting the volunteer work, you will receive an Induction about the tasks you will perform, with information on the local context, the needs of the elderly, and the activities you will carry out.
Throughout your stay, you will have continuous support from our team, both in program logistics and emotional accompaniment.

Cultural and Integration Activities

During the program, we will organize cultural and recreational activities so you can enjoy and learn about Peru’s rich traditions: tourist visits to the region’s wonders, rest days, and meetings with the local community.
You will have the opportunity to experience rural Peruvian life, integrate into the culture, and share unforgettable moments with local residents.
